summer freshness
Art on the way halfway. 6 window pictures
for the Wusterhausen/Dosse station building
The project
Our ancestors literally jumped on the moving train. When the railway stopped in Wusterhausen in 1887, Berliners saved themselves the long journey to the Baltic Sea. People called it half the journey. Because in the area north-west of Berlin, too, you could really enjoy the summer holidays. Swimming in separate bathing establishments, from 1928 in the new lido, taking a passenger boat across the Lower and Upper Lakes, rowing, cycling, hiking - and eating well.
Even today, the restaurants are highly praised, but usually only regulars get accommodation. Wusterhausen remains an open secret tip. Who would think, when driving along the B5, that just a few meters away there is the 22-kilometer-long Kyritzer lake chain with the Wusterhausen Klempowsee? A yellowed postcard shows the many facets of the area in small photos - and SUMMER FRESHNESS can be read in old letters.
That gave the project its title.
Old Postcards, New Views
The place
The historic, listed station building will be
has not been used for many years. It is now owned by the municipality of Wusterhausen/Dosse. Although it is located in a prominent position on the B5 and is visible to travelers every day, it could almost be overlooked due to its abandoned character. The 22 windows and 3 doors are currently protected by plywood panels.
In order to enhance the building, the location, but also to highlight its function as a new public transport connection point, the region's artists invite you to discover art along the way together with the Wegemuseum (and the municipality of Wusterhausen/Dosse), to search for and implement artistic positions, specifically tailored to the location and its special features.

from the districts of Ostprignitz-Ruppin and Prignitz invite you to look forward to it. Now they are mounted in large format on six windows of the station building from 1887. You literally walk towards them, see them when you come from the small town, go to the train or rush past on the B 5. And perhaps one day a lover of the old building will stop by and breathe new life into it after it has been empty for a long time. It is not just the mayor who dreams of this.
