Katja Pfeiffer: "The lifespan of the catfish, Europe's largest freshwater fish at up to 2 meters in length, is similar to that of humans. And so, very old specimens in the Untersee could still tell stories of how Peter Dentler used to drive his boat to the specially installed "Dentler Fountain" to turn it on manually. The catfish's broad heads make up more than 20 percent of their total length \u2013 who knows what goes on inside them? Perhaps the fish observe with wonder what's happening on the surface of their lake during the summer holidays: the changing swimwear, the passenger shipping operations, and the guests from near and far. Perhaps they welcome the ban on motorboats and listen, as they grow and thrive, for a fishhook to be cast somewhere."<\/p>\n

She studied art under G\u00fcnther Uecker, Alfonso H\u00fcppi and Jan Dibbets. Alfonso H\u00fcppi appointed her master student and she has worked as a freelance artist ever since. Her work spans a wide range of media, including painting, drawing, collage and installation.<\/p>\n In 2006, she was appointed Professor of Art in the field of artistic practice at the Faculty of Design and Art at the University of Wuppertal. From 2020 to 2024, she headed the faculty as dean.
