Strümpell was deputy head of the Johann-Albrechtshöhe station in 1900 and led the punitive expedition against the Banguoa in 1900.

The station was built on the crater rim at Lake Barombi Mbo.

Kurt Strümpell (1872-1947), a colonial officer and collector, participated in various expeditions and battles against the local population, including the 1901/02 campaign against Bafut (a kingdom in northwestern Cameroon). He conducted geographical, ethnographic, and linguistic research. Objects from his often illegally acquired collections are now located in Braunschweig, Cologne, and Berlin.

Georg August Zenker (June 11, 1855 – February 6, 1922): He was a gardener and botanist, living in Cameroon since 1889 and head of the German station in Yaoundé until 1895. He started a family, moved with them to Bipindi, and cultivated a plantation of cocoa, coffee, rubber, and bananas.

Wikipedia: Georg August Zenker was an exceptional figure in many respects. While certainly not entirely free of colonialist ideas, he demonstrated that peaceful integration was possible in the mutual interest.

Governor Jesko von Puttkamer (1855–1917) described Zenker's residence in Bipindi as a museum because it was so richly furnished with ethnographic objects, photographs, oil and watercolor sketches, herbaria, animal skins and skulls, weapons, fetishes, bird skins, and other cultural artifacts from Cameroon. Zenker never returned to Germany, and it is highly likely that Zenker and Ipscher knew each other personally. It is also highly likely that the reptile skin came from Zenker's collection.
