The promenade was created in the early 20th century.
"The promenade was laid out at the beginning of the 20th century to enable holidaymakers and summer visitors to take nice walks. Next to the promenade there was another arm of the river Dosse. This was spanned by about 15 wooden bridges so that everyone could get to their home garden. Here is best justifies the former poetic designation of Wusterhausen as 'Little Venice'."
