Katja Martin: "'Summer resort' - I only know this word from my grandmother's mouth. She used it ever since she first traveled to the Baltic Sea for several weeks in her childhood (between the world wars) with her extended family for a summer holiday. For this purpose, the feather beds of all 13 family members were sent to the holiday resort in large wicker baskets in advance. The fishing family with whom they had stayed let their guests use their little house. They themselves lived in their barn during this time and thus supplemented their meager income as fishermen. In July 2024, my daughter and I drove to the summer resort of Wusterhausen for a few days. We packed the car with a tent and sleeping bags and rented a piece of lawn on the campsite. It was very hot. We were grateful for some cooling off in the Untersee. We drew and photographed our way through the area and came back with rich booty."
