As good as new and hardly used?
For a long time we were unsure what this block of wood could be all about. The only record of it was that it was kept in the town hall. The chronicler Iskraut mentions it, but assumes that it was never used. In any case, no traces of blood could be detected when examining the executioner's block...
The facts: It corresponds exactly to the Prussian regulations for execution blocks, which were issued in 1812 with the introduction of judging with an axe. Before this decree, a Prussian executioner beheaded the delinquent with his sword.
